Postoperative instructions after vitrectomy

Article

In the first few days after vitrectomy surgery, the stitches may cause a foreign body sensation.

The postoperative instructions, in addition to appropriate treatment with eye drops, include appropriate posture (head down) for a few days in order for the operation to be successful.

If gas is inserted during the vitrectomy, vision is initially very poor and will improve over the next 2 weeks as the gas is absorbed and replaced by serum.

If the surgeon places silicone in the eye, it is removed after a few months with another operation.
