Contact Lenses and Makeup

Article

The use of contact lenses will in no way prevent you from using make-up. However, there are some points to be aware of.

1. Eye makeup is done after you have worn the contact lenses first

2. The make-up removal is done after you have removed the contact lenses.

3. Prefer makeup products that do not contain oils.

4. Do not use waterproof mascara because it can stain your lenses and, over time, it turns into pieces that can cause irritation when they enter your eyes.

5. You can even use eyeliner liquid.

6. Do not grip your lenses if you have first touched an oily cream with your hands.

7. Be careful when using hairspray or other spray products, they can cause irreparable damage to your lenses.

If wearing the torch you feel excessive discomfort like a cut can:
Α. Have it placed upside down. The lenses as you will see below have a good and a bad side. Very often, however, a lens can be turned upside down without you realizing it.

Β. A foreign body may have entered between the lens and your eye, such as a small hair from a towel. Take the lens out of your eye, rinse it with some saline and replace it.

If you feel excessive discomfort like stinging or burning while wearing the lens, you may:
Α. The lens has not been cleaned properly. Usually cleaning products that work with hydrogen peroxide (such as Oxysept, Novasept, Easysept) need a period of time to be deactivated. Look at the cleaning instructions for your system and if you are unsure ask your optician. In the meantime take off the lens and flush your eye with plenty of saline.
Β. Soap residue may have transferred from your hand to the lens and from there to your eye. Remove the lens and rinse your eye with plenty of saline. Rinse the lens thoroughly with plenty of saline and try again.

Γ. If you have an allergy to any of the ingredients of the cleaning fluid you are using, consult your optician who will determine if this is the case and suggest another cleaning method.
