What happens in the eye?;
Most of the eye (behind the lens and in front of the retina) is occupied by the Hyaloid Body. It is a transparent gel, 98% of water, which shapes the eye and allows light to pass through clearly.
At a young age, this jelly is tight and stuck to the walls of the eye. Over time, however, the vitreous «ages», becomes fluid and loses its firmness. As a result, it becomes detached from the back of the eye. This normal process is called Posterior Hyaloid Detachment.

The Symptoms
As the vitreous detaches, it casts shadows on the retina. The patient perceives:
Myopsies (Myopsies): Small specks, «spiders» or «threads» that seem to swim across your field of vision. They are caused by tiny pieces of jelly casting their shadow on the retina.
Lightshots (Glows): Instantaneous flashes, like flashes of lightning or lightning. They occur when the vitreous pulls on the retina as it tries to detach.

Modern Therapy: 27-Gauge (27g) Hyalonectomy
Posterior detachment does not lead to blindness, but if the symptoms (flies) persist and are very annoying, the solution is to remove the vitreous (Floaterectomy).
In our clinic we apply the world's most advanced technique (27g):
Accuracy: We use extremely small diameter instruments (thinner than an insulin needle).
No Stitches: The incisions are so small that they close by themselves.
Rapid Healing: Inflammation and postoperative discomfort are minimized.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is posterior detachment dangerous?;
Not by itself. However, as the vitreous detaches, there is a risk that it can pull the retina and create crack. Therefore, as soon as you feel the symptoms, you should be examined immediately to prevent any retinal detachment.
What is "Floaterectomy"?;
It is the international term for the Vitrectomy that is specifically done to clean up troublesome floaters. With the 27g technique, we clean up the cloudy gel and the eye regains its clarity.
Does it hurt to operate with 27g tools?;
No. Due to the tiny diameter of the instruments, the procedure is extremely painless and painless. Recovery is much faster than with older techniques.
